Susland

Susland, pronounced as "SEuse-Land" is one of the 14 regional areas on Liberos. Susland is on average the coldest region, but surprisingly has high traces of early human activity. Susland was first settled by the native people due to the abundance of wildlife in the lower regions during the winter. Easy access to the sea allowed fishing, allowing people in the region to feast primarily on a diet consisting of fish and deer. However, the natural resources in the region besides wood and fur were severely limited. The only resource worth mining in the region was sapphires, mainly extracted from the large sapphire mine Iklo Sapphire Mine. Susland is located on one tectonic plate completely, allowing no mountain ranges to form through millions of years of planetary evolution.

Name

The name Susland first originated from the Kingdom Of Mani in the start of the 2nd Century. A group of fisherman from the Kingdom Of Osmax had became lost in a fishing journey and crash landed on a shore. Warriors from a nearby town that belonged to the Kingdom Of Mani held the warriors hostage. Horrified for their lives, the ships captain asked the warriors were they were. The Mani warriors replied "Sust-aNd," meaning 'Who are you?' The fisherman took the answer as the name of the land, and later told the King Of Osmax, Tiberius I, these ordeals. The King would send a small warship to investigate the people and initiated first contact with the Kingdom Of Mani. Although the native people of the land called the region Olamis, the name Susland would stick after the Kingdom Of Osmax officially mapped it is as so. The cost of the Ink to change the name was too high.

Geology

Compared to regions like Peltas, Valmor, and Omis the region was very poor in natural resources. The only resource worth mining in the whole region was Sapphires, mainly mined from the Iklo Sapphire Mine. This mine was one of the worlds top producers in Sapphires, and was the shinning mine for miles. Other rock such as marble, slate, and granite formed deep underground in this region but was usually ignored due to weather conditions. The region almost year round was cold, with most of the region consisting of a 7 month winter. A mine in these conditions could not be profitable usually. Only local projects had mines constructed to have resources not hauled as far as Umon or Peltas.

One of its primary languages was Helten.

History

Human expansion into Susland first begun around the year B1E-1300 where old firepits and settlements can be found dating back to. Centralization of the region first started under the infamous Tribe Of Elbama and later would expand to the Kingdom Of Mani and Kingdom Of Langley. The region despite its harsh winters and brutal weather was surprisingly inhabited heavily during the First Era. Throughout the further centuries however the region would notice a decline in population increase and would ultimately be the least inhabited region by the Third Era.

Tribe Of Elbama

The first fully developed city state on Susland were the Elbamas in the Tribe Of Elbama. The Elbamas were a strong, proud people that were usually considered dwarfs due to their small height. The Elbamas were originally settled as dwaft humans of the Heltas race but would shift in the following Eras into a whole new race. The Tribe Of Elbama would later expand to hold most of the region and faced little resistance due to the territories harsh weather. The Elbamo Dynasty is considered the weirdest most strangest dynasty consisting of XXVI (26) Elbamos until their great fall. This Tribe gave Susland a reputation of the strange and unnatural. A reputation it would never rid itself of.
