Peltas
From The Lands Of Liberos Project

Peltas, pronounced as (Pell-Toss), is the most north most western region on Liberos. Covered in the biggest forests only possibly rivaled by Nimtas, Peltas is known for its extensive coal deposits around the [[Oma Mountains] and deep wilderness in the Forests Of Ying. First settled nearly 900 years before the Creation of the first formal nation -- Kingdom Of Osmax, Peltas grew home to the harsher more rugged people of Liberos. First officially settled by the Kingdom Of Gwessly, Peltas would gain an unholy reputation of secrecy and witchcraft most clear in Anmar I Of The Gwessly. Peltas remains one of the most prone regions to political instability and violence.
Name
Peltas, originating from the Ancient Semther word of Pletas meaning mysterious, unknown, and cryptic. This word was first used by natives on the southern shore around 600 B1E. Being adopted by the Kingdom Of Gwessly through natural usage, the name officially was created by Franius Lanius. In many scenarios Peltas can be attributed to the world Pelus and Pelas for their usage in the high northern tundra by small tribes.
History
Kingdom Of Gwessly
Formed in 112 First Era, the Kingdom Of Gwessly quickly proved to be much more internally conflicted than its neighboring Kingdoms. Facing oppression under Gwessly I, the people rebelled for the first time. Many times after this would people seize power and incite Civil War in the Kingdom. Beginning with the death of Antoney II in 158, the Dark Ages Of Gwen decended until the rise of Anmar I.
Regions
Separated mostly by geography and climate, Peltas has four distinctive regions. The Northern, Western, Eastern, and Southern. Western Peltas is known as the 'Wide Expanse' by many setters for its large fields and never ending The Great Eastern Peninsula. The Eastern region is the most settled and easily accessible for trade among the other Nations. This is the biggest most expansive area comprising almost entirely of Temperate Forest and Deciduous forest. The Northern Region is one of the coldest sub regions on average in Liberos. Most of the inhabitants of this area live in small villages on waterways to avoid the heavy snowfall in the thick forest. This is one of the most desolate regions on all of Liberos. The Southern Region is one of the most resource dense on Bytos, showcasing some of the largest coal deposits in the world.
Geography
With its unique position stretching hundreds of miles in width, Peltas was a hilly region of many trees. With harsh winters and cold summers the region was inhospitable in its northern areas for most of the year. With deep coal reserves around the Oma Mountains, however, this was very enticing for people to mine. Much of the region is hit by hard winds off the the water with the interior slightly more warm with virtually no wind. Most of the climate is wet from the heavy rainfall with high altitude in the upper regions near the Oma Mountains. The geographical features include: Oma Mountains, Forests Of Ying, The Great Eastern Peninsula, The Great Forests And Grasslands Of Ere, and the Peninsula Of Stor.
Geology
With its extensive coal reserves Peltas would eventually become a major area for the Industrial Era. Fueling the Ironworks of the Kingdom Of Gwessly for centuries, these massive coal reserves remained relatively secret. Combined with the nasty climate of the region, these reserves would be untapped for centuries.
Climate
Being a very varied climate, Northern Peltas has extreme snowfall in the winter. Being nearly uninhabitable, these regions would only be uninhabited by small ancient tribes with most of them concentrated on the Peninsula Of Stor. Southern Peltas remains the best climate for humans to live in with higher temperatures and much better soil to grow food and hunt animals located in The Great Forests And Grasslands Of Ere. Cold winds blowing off the Great Ocean Of Lamos give these area of Peltas cold summers and freezing winters but relatively remains rich in wildlife and fishing. Eastern Peltas is a combination of the other three areas remaining cold and desolate but lively along the coasts around the Bay Of Shadows.
Culture
Peltas would become a battleground between the two religions of Osmanian and Solma for the next millennia. Fighting between the powers of the Kingdom Of Langley, Kingdom Of Gwessly, Kingdom Of Osmax, and Kingdom Of Osami, Peltas would quickly become ripe with blood. The Southern Areas of Peltas remain generally more Osmanian while the northern more desolate areas are left to the Solma. Peltas also remains a battleground of language as nearly every language competes for dominance.
