The Kingdom of Gwessly, (Guh-Vest-Lee), was formed in 112 First Era under Gwessly I after large barbarian groups had repeatly harrased the nearby tribes. The only Kingdom with a majority Semther but Osmanian instead of Solma, the Kingdom would later had drastic religious conflcit. The Gwessly Kingdom underwent turbulent times in the First Era going through revolution after revolution. Power shifted rapidly between the lords due to the Ring Of Anmar and Blade Of Terror. As some of the first supernatural items, their significance unfolded as the Osmanian followers discovered this. Although the only holders of these magical artifacts for centuries, the Kingdom Of Gwessly had so much innate trouble that it could never utilize them properly.

History

Gwessly I

With barbarians attacking and slaughtering villages, Gwessly I took it upon himself to form a new Kingdom where the people would give him money in exchange for protection against the ruthless. A cruel leader himself, Gwessly I ruled over his new people with an iron fist, making sure all obeyed his demands. For the next 16 years under the control of Gwessly, the nation expanded in territory across the coastal regions of Valmor. Angry from being oppressed and heavily taxed, the peasants began the Uprising Of 128 attacking Gwen and killing Gwessly I. His son rose to power for three months until he was assassinated by aspiring nobles wishing to take the throne. A noble heir, by the name of Antoney Leon would become Antoney I, eventually leading Gwessly out of the dark times for a short time.

Uprising Of 128

The Uprising Of 128 began after a small peasant army formed in the southern region of South Wessly angered by heavy taxation. The uprising shook the Kingdom, initiating a Civil War upon the government. On December 14th of 128 First Era, the fateful 1st Battle of Gwen killed thousands as waves of peasants stormed the castle where Gwessly I lived. Gwessly I was killed in the attack, allowing his son to ascend to take the throne. Gwessly II sat on the throne for three months, attempting to save what he could of the caving Kingdom. He was later killed in the early 129 First Era from assassins sent by noble heirs.

Antoney I

Kingless, the Kingdom began to fall apart before the noble by the name of Antoney Leon would take power with his warriors. Scared to be left in anarchy and allow the barbarians to reorganize, they gladly accepted his leadership. Instead of the repeat of Gwessly I, Antoney Leon I reformed the Kingdom to give more freedoms among the people. Lowering taxes and forming trade agreements with nearby tribes for food, the Kingdom began to recover from the uprising.

Geography

Mostly flatlands with few trees in Peltas, the Kingdom Of Gwessly was geographically poor. Although situated for a well off trading position, the Kingdom Of Osami on Faltos blocked this and forced the trading ships out of the Bay Of Shadows. To the North of the Kingdom was the Kingdom Of Langley, sworn enemies amongst the two. To the south was later the expanding Osami which feverishly blocked the Gwen out. With nowhere to head except all out war, the Gwessly turned to the poor never expanding expanse of the east.

Government & Military

Central Government

With power shifting so rapidly in the Kingdom between Noble families, the position of King was a complete autocratic dictator except for the years with the Council Of Nobility. Ruling with such immense power caused revolution after revolution with most families, if they were lucky, having three or four generations on the throne. Especially in the turmoil years starting from the death of Antoney II in 158 First Era. These times are known as the Dark Ages Of Gwen, which finally ended with the crafting of the Ring Of Anmar from Anmar I in 194 First Era.

Military

Economy

Currency

The Gwessly economic base was so inefficient and constantly torn apart that the attempted currency, the Leonis was useless and unaccepted in most parts of the Kingdom. Instead, the Crenali was the backbone of the economy and in many instances would shatter the economy if the Crenali preformed bad.

Demographics

Culture

Religion

Devoted Osmanians, the Gwen sided with the Kingdom Of Osamis claim to the founding place of Osmanian at Gomm. Religious ties in the Kingdom were very simple, with priests distributed per church and chief priests in important strongholds such as Gwen itself. The King had a chief religious advisor who would instruct and advise on religious matters in and outside and Kingdom. Religious order was relatively peaceful until the crafting of the Ring Of Anmar and Blade Of Terror. After these weapons were built, Osmanians become feverishly obedient to whoever wielded the artifacts.

Language

As a melting pot of languages mixed between Semther, Alarian, Helten, and Empala, the Kingdom Of Gwessly experienced terribly unity in these matters. Divided across so many fronts of political alias, the lines drawn between language contributed immensely to the turmoil in the Kingdom. Although many languages were constantly being outlawed and unoutlawed, assimilation to one language had little progress.

Race

Almost 100% Heltas, the Gwen were notable for light almost translucent skin and blue eyes. Renowned for intellect rather than physical might, Gwens were a subspecies of Heltas uniquely divided from evolution off of their natural intellect. This gave way to many political propaganda sayings and slandering's of Gwen, making them look evil and dark. This, however, was true for the most part. Gwen's lacked more empathy than most, and had some of the most ruthless merciless leaders in all of history.
