The Kingdom Of Osmax ("Os-Mex") was formed by the great leader, Max I, who united the tribes Osmax (tribe), Deno, and Arain to create the first nation on Liberos. The Kingdom was primarily located in Central/Southern Umon, with the capital Opam built alongside the ocean. The Osmax continued to expand throughout the next Era, quickly devouring most of Umon. The first great leader, Max The Great defeated the Kingdom's first enemy in the Osmax-Fowatan War quickly establishing the dominant superpower in the region for centuries to come.

History

Max II

The Osmax-Arain Succession War

The Osmax Kingdom united under one banner after two tribes swore their allegiance to the Osmax, one through force, and another through war. The war that ensured among the three tribes became known as the Osmax-Arain Succesion War which would determine which nation was best to rule over the surrounding peoples. The war lasted seven years, totaling over twenty thousand deaths. The Arain suffered horribly, with every 5 in every 6 men killed in the war.

The war reduced the population of the Osmax to around 16,000. Maximin after his coronation ceremony later apologized for these horrible losses, including those suffered by the Arain and Deno. And it wasn't until nearly decades later that the populations of the tribes, now the Kingdom Of Osmax, had recovered. This war later became widely known as the first documented war and would be remembered by Generals and Leaders to call upon.

Tribes United

The Unification of the Tribes began days after Maximin had captured Hildago. He quickly began converting the Deno and Arain to reflect Osmax values, adopting some of their own as well. Maximin then fourteen days later, was crowned the first King Of The Osmax. The ceremony included surrounding him with swords, speaking hymns, and being bathed in the holiest water that could be found. This later became the Embalming Coronation Ceremony tradition thousands of kings and emperors would later use. Maximin in honor of becoming a King, renamed himself to simply, Max, later becoming Max I. Max then gave a speech regarding the losses sustained in the war in order to further unite the bitter tribes. In remembrance of the unification, Max I built the Monument of Solitude, an ancient stone pillar that he personally carved into a beautiful mural that described the great beauty of finally being under one King, one ruler. It took decades, but the tribes eventually settled into its unique culture, with the region's religion (Osmanian). Max I would live out the rest of his days writing his own books, studying peace, and teaching his son Max II how to rule. He eventually met his end in 31 First Era, allowing his son to take the throne.

Max II

Taking the throne in 31 First Era, Max II did his best to maintain peace with the other nearby Kingdom, the Kingdom Of Fowatan. Staying on the sidelines of his reign, he let the Kingdom expand outwards as more villagers were "convinced" to join the Kingdom. However, his diplomatic skills couldn't save the Osmax as King Fentalius Of The Fowatan declared war on the Osmax sometime in the year 37 First Era.

The Osmax-Fowatan War

Osmax-Fowatan War throughout the years 37 - 43 First Era

Enraged by the expansion of the Osmax, the raged leader of the Fowatan had already raised and trained an army of nearly four thousand. King Max II Of The Osmax attempted to reason with the King through diplomacy, but his attempts quickly failed as he realized war was the only option. Raising an army, Max prepared for total war. As the war raged, the Osmax were losing ground.

In December of 40 First Era, at the Battle Of Kivon, King Max II was killed in battle. A Fowatan warior afterward remarked to a scholar: "King Max stood surrounded by us. His guard had been annihilated, leaving only himself in his desperate last charge to kill Fentalius. And when they demanded him to surrender, he cried out: "The only man I'll surrender to, is Bemous himself!" The King is only remembered for how he died. Honorably, and with his dignity.

His son, young Max III rose to power. He ascended to the throne in the middle of a grueling war that had already lasted 4 years and was on the losing end of it. The Osmax armies had already been crushed, except the small dispatches of ones to the North, and the new General Of Osmax, General Panerius Links, was relatively inexperienced but later proved to be invaluable. With the troubles of internal disputes, he soon raised an army of over 10,000 against the horde of Fowatan Warriors whose numbers are still disputed to this day.

More than a year after taking rule, in the spring of 42 First Era, Great King Max III proved his steel. After five months of relentlessly training his army as villages fell, and women and children were slaughtered, the Battle Of Apar began. With the odds heavily against the Osmax, some say outnumbered 3:1, the soon-to-be legendary king rallied his army, proclaiming that this battle would be the same as the 1st Battle Of Opam, and that whoever won would win the war. The Osmax won the battle against the odds, with it lasting about two hours. General Panerius recalled after the incredible Osmax victory, "You could barely see the ground, only bodies stacked upon each other like leaves could be seen."

The war left approximately 30,000 people dead, and thousands injured. Villages and small cities had been torched to the ground, with much of the little economy of the Osmax destroyed. The next thirty years would prove to be tough for the Osmax, having to put down near revolts and suppress the newly captured territories. Were it not for the expanding power of Max III and his long reign, the Kingdom could certainly become engulfed in turmoil. As the years passed, the two Osmanian cultures merged, allowing the Fowatan identity to become forgotten.

Max III

After the end of the Osmax-Fowatan War, the Kingdom Of Osmax experienced a great time of peace. Max III did not seek further conquests of distance lands, and would slowly expand the Kingdom peacefully. His extremely long reign, extremely rare among Kings and practically unheard of during the early years of the First Era brought stability to the new Kingdom. Openingly allowing Fowatan values, the Fowatan identify soon would mix into the Osmax. Max is often remembered in his older years as a calm, focused man. Building defensive walls around Opam, opening new fishing docks, and building new mines are just a few of his feats. 60 years after his coronation, on July 4th 101 First Era, Max III Of The Osmax passed away peacefully on his bed within his quarters. His sons, Tiberius I Of The Osmax, and John Of The Osmax would become the next two Kings of the Kingdom. His death would be mourned by the whole Kingdom as Tiberius I would take the throne. Nearly the whole Kingdom, if not the whole Kingdom, had known Max III as their King their whole lives. Three generations had been born since his ascension to the throne.

Tiberius I

In 113 First Era, a decade after Max III has passed, his son Tiberius I, also known as Tiberius The Invader, conquered many of the surrounding tribes including the Wall Of Spears: a formation of over 43 tribes to oppose the Osmax expansion. The Wall Of Spears was led only by one man, Feyahali Manaopa. Feyahali had brought the tribes together after the growing expansion of the Osmax threatened many tribes' sovereignty. In 113 First Era, Tiberius had grown tired of the small skirmishes and raids by the Spears. He decided to meet with Feyahali himself and demanded that the formation hand over all immediate assets and territory or there would be a price to pay. Feyahali spat back at him and demanded him to leave immediately. As Tiberius walked off with his security escort, he yelled: "This means war!" and stormed off to his generals in Opam. Fourteen days later, the Annhilation At Stonecrest began, a four-day battle that killed 9,000 tribal warriors and 14,000 women and children. The atrocity, however, was hidden from the general public and wasn't uncovered until the end of Tiberius's reign. The publicity over the event died down over the decades, and soon, almost became a myth among fact.

Provincial Act Of 140

Near the end of Tiberius's very long reign, he instituted the Provincial Act Of 140. The Act begun to divide, and manage the territory of the Osmax to help better manage taxes and control. Before, control of the territory was managed completely by the King himself, allowing centralization to take place but became increasingly hard to assert complete control as the Kingdom grew. Especially after the Wall Of Spears, Tiberius needed the country to calm down. The Act divided the country into Provinces, each headed by a Consul. A Consul was of the likes of a manager, or like the Councils managed in cities. The Consul managed the provinces local laws, economic practices, and small garrisons of troops. All of this of course could be overridden by the King Of Osmax, Royal Council, and General Of Osmax in certain cases.

Tiberius II

With the death of his father's brother, King John, in 149 First Era, Tiberius II's took his place as King Of The Osmax. Although his father had one of the longest reigns in the history of the Osmax, he had children very late in his life, thus, Tiberius II was only 25 when he took the throne. Under his reign, the Kingdom rapidly expanded across Umon releatively peacefully. Early in his reign, Tiberius II opened the Umon Silver Mines.

Umon Silver Mines

Decades after the Wall Of Spears, and with peaceful expansion into the surrounding areas, new silver deposits were discovered in the Agarian Mountains. Commissioned under Tiberius I himself, the Umon Silver Mines were created. These silver mines were extremely valuable to the Osmax, giving them a proper silver source to create the Crenali. With few deposits of silver near Umon and Susland, the market was based almost entirely off of the Crenali, giving the Osmax an economic boom.

The Age Of Expansion

After the victory over the Wall Of Spears by Tiberius's father, Tiberius I, all nearby inhabitants of the Osmax felt frightened and submitted to their rule wherever it was enforced. Few tribes fought back as Tiberius II started to establish complete control over Umon. Such tribes as the Enlox, Kamai, and Linkala were completely wiped off the map showing the lines between the peaceful Osmax, and the hidden genocide they harbored. Others became integrated and soon a daily part of life in the Osmax cities and sprawling countryside. Only a few later powers dared to not become subjugated under the Osmax, such as the High Kingdom Of Nometra. Although tribes were being killed, this time is generally considered peaceful as the Kingdom expanded and no major wars broke out. The Osmax Army reformed in this period into a larger more profound force that was more centralized and could better manage its logistics. Tiberius II often is remembered as a man who stabilized and grew the economy, opened jobs, and asserted King and reworked the entire mining industry. He died in 175 First Era, with his son Benami I succeeding him. But, soon other nations formed across the horizon which would brew trouble for the oncoming rulers.

Benami I

Benami I took the throne with a glorious Kingdom to be ruled. The only problem were the talks of genocide against the Wall Of Spears but those were only rumors with few confirmed facts. This calm peace didn't last long as in 158 First Era a political faction called the Ayrails formed. The Ayrail faction wanted less autocratic decisions in the nation and sought to fix these problems. The group had virtually no power until four years later once more people became members. At its height, with ~4,000 strong supporters in 175 First Era, the Ayrail supporters sought to fix problems in the military and high government positions. But, with growing tides of uneasiness of being assassinated and possibly being forced out of power by the growing mob, Benami I newly crowned King, enforced government authority. The Unfathomable Thoughts Act declared in 179 First Era began to purge the entire Ayrail Faction. In five years time, the faction was entirely decimated save fleeing members. But peace was still decades away. After showing such powerful government authority and tyranny, Benami ordered the Great Harbor Of Opam to be built in 185 First Era in order to sway the citizens of Opam back to his side. This greatly expanded the economy of not only Opam but the entire Kingdom itself.

Geography

The Geography of the Kingdom varied but it generally had low hills and vast flat forests. The Agarian Mountains were one of the few exception to this in the mainland part of the Kingdom: in Umon. But, with the rise of giant large populations came much waste. Many rivers of the Osmax became dumps, such as the Tingla River which became so polluted, it exhibited mutated species. Many grasslands became overgrazed, and even more, often became infertile after long periods of similar crop growth destroyed the nitrogen-rich soil. This process is called

Climate

The northern part of Umon with its low soil quality forces the inhabitants to rely most on imports or locally hunted food. The south, however, had much more rich soil that let the Osmax become an agricultural powerhouse. The weather in the south was much more unpredictable than the north, with Winter and Spring overlapping multiple times across each other. The north, even with its much colder seasons and bad soil, still had much more rainfall than the southern part of the Kingdom.

Government & Military

Main Article: Kingdom Of Osmax Government

Central Government

The Central Government in the Kingdom Of Osmax was generally centered around the King and the Royal Council. The King would make the biggest decisions throughout the government usually, while the Council would govern on the day to day basis. The flowing ties between the two were generally neutral until the Revolt Of Olp Manki in 431 Second Era when the Council attempted to overthrow the King. In response the King executed the entire Council, banning and limiting the powers of the group of people. The powers of the Central Government did not change often, but when they did, it was brutal.

Provincial Government

Provincial Act Of 140 divided the country into provinces, each headed by a mini King called a Consul. The Consul would have a very large amount of power in the province. Before the act, the King independently controlled the entire country which heavily bogged down administration. Although every Consul was equal, the Consul Of Opam for example was much more powerful that one from a distant poor extension of the Kingdom. A Consul could only be overruled by the Royal Council, King Of Osmax, and rarely the General Of Osmax. The Provinces Of Osmax lasted until...

Military

Main Article: Osmax Army The Osmax Army was formalized sometime in the month of July, 17 First Era. Due to the unknown date, it is celebrated every July 15 the creation of the Army. Unlike modern militaries, the Osmax did not separate their Armed Forces, ever. They had Naval Forces that worked alongside the Ground Forces, and even later Air Forces too. The head of the Army resided as the General Of Osmax, the highest ranking position, who was then followed by a number of Generals, Militant Generals, and Faxillions. For most of the First Era, the army was too small to hold higher rank Generals allowing usually only one of each General Rank.

Economy

Main Article: History Of Osmax Economy

As the Kingdom expanded, so did its economy. Primarily based on Fishing and Hunting, the economy slowly transitioned to more manufactured goods such as Tools, and Clothes during the later half of the First Era. The economy boomed when the Silver League began its mining operations for Silver in the Agarian Mountains in 156 First Era under Tiberius II. Jump starting the economy not only in the Kingdom, but also all of Umon, the Crenali became the major currency for hundreds of miles.

Taxation

Established by Max III, the Osmax would pay a yearly tax to the city they lived in. These would ultimately rise up to the King, of which he decided how to use them. Those in the countryside during this time did not pay taxes.

Demographics

Much of the population lived on farms and in the countryside for the majority of history, although the Kingdom Of Osmax did have some of the largest cities.

Culture

Much of the Osmax Culture was centered around the Osmanian Religion which focuses on the values of enlightenment and seeking the truth. They spend a great deal of time dedicating buildings and building churches for the Head God of the Osmanian Religion, Bemous. Osmans are aggressive by nature and became more aggressive as time went on.

Religion

The Kingdom Of Osmax followed the Osmanian Religion, becoming formally recognized under the Osmax Church. The Osmax Church would exclusively live within the borders of the Kingdom, attempting to convert the entire populace to believe in the great god, Bemous. The Church would often become enthralled in debates and holy wars with the Kingdom Of Osami. The church was headed by an Orator, placed beneath the Grand Pope of the religion. However, the Grand Pope rarely lived within the borders of the Osmax, and thus, the Orator would hold supreme religious authority throughout the country.

Language

The Official Language of the Osmax was Helten. At one point, however, small majorities of Semther and Alarian would spur up in the Kingdom, but it was considered heresy for these languages to be used by citizens. It was required to speak Helten to be a citizen, and illegal if you speak Jokilo out in public as it was too complex and thus made King Tiberius I ban it.

Race

Nearly the entire Kingdom was comprised of Heltas but as they expanded southward a small number of Rituns joined too. The Kingdom generally did not dislike other people but occasionally regional differences would incite hate and oppression.
